It's unbelievable that Hodges isn't in the Hall of Fame. He was one of the best first basemen, defensively and offensively, to ever play the game. He anchored a Dodger infield that was arguably the the best in baseball from the late 40's into the late 50's, and, as a manager, he turned the laughingstock of baseball (the then expansion New York Mets) into the 1969 Amazin' Mets that won the World Series. As a person, he was a man of integrity and class. Very, very sad that he hasn't been elected to the Hall of Fame.
