The Lady Tigers put a scare into 2nd-ranked Bosse until the third quarter began tonight. Bosse's press did the girls in, as the offense was unable to get the job done in the third quarter.

In the most class-less act I've seen since I was a sophomore at Pike Central, Bosse's head coach pressed until the end of the game, even though she had a 30 point lead and Princeton was subbing freely.

The story from 1977? That class-less act was by South Knox. They were state-ranked and we started four sophomores at Pike Central. They ran the score up on us just as Bosse did tonight. How sweet it was when we all became seniors and returned the favor in 1979. The state-ranked players of 1977 were gone, but we made the coach wish he had not pressed the entire game two years earlier. Our subs didn't play a minute, we pressed the entire game, and we enjoyed every minute of that blowout.

A warning to Bosse - What goes around, comes around. I doubt that Coach Thompson will forget that low class behavior tonight.

Also - the crowd was the biggest seen at a Princeton Girls' game in several years.

Working OT and didn't get to the game. D"Arn" the luck...Sorry Arn! Maybe a couple of letters or phone calls the Bosse's Athletic Department could keep that from happening again?

Their AD is Dr. Cochren's son.

Thanks to all the fans who came out tonight. Let's do it again next Friday when the Lady Tigers take on the Titans of Gibson Southern. It should be a barn burner at PCHS.

Make an evening of it by coming early to the dinner being held by the Middle School Lady Tigers. I think I heard they were having Chili, Vegetable Soup, Sandwiches and desserts. Could be wrong about the time but 4:30 to 7 sounds right.

See you there. :D

I went down to Bosse this evening to keep Coach Hudson company as he scouted Mt Vernon.

Bosse won the game by 40+ points, did not press in the second half and even used their subs for the entire fourth quarter.

That tells me two things. First, Princeton has nothing to be ashamed of - the girls had Bosse in a close game until the third quarter while Mt Vernon was thumped from the beginning.
The second thing is, what does Bosse have against Princeton? They used their starters and pressed until the final horn, even though they had a 30 point lead in the fourth quarter.

I rethought how Coach Thompson should handle things if we should get a chance to run the score up on them in a couple of years. He should get a 20 point lead, call off the press, use the subs, and then when he shakes hands with them after the game, he can say, "That is what class looks like."

Who is Bosse's head coach? Is it Stephanogel(sp)?

Thanks Arn for the info. I thought the girls did a great job on Friday night. From what I hear from one of the Bosse parents, they actually went into the locker room worried we had kept the game so close. Can you believe it worried that Princeton kept the game so close?

We went up and watched the Vincennes/Gibson Southern game on Saturday. Vincennes played an excellent game. They were raining down the 3's. I think they ended up winning by 14 or so.

We've got GS on Friday night from what I've seen it should be a good game. Hope everyone comes out again to cheer on whichever is your favorite team.

Don't forget the Middle School Lady Tiger's Soup Supper before. I don't know about the carry outs. But knowing that group they'll do whatever to take your money. :)

It was one of the worst officiated games I've been to. The third foul in the second quarter on PCHS's point guard was clearly a charge. It could have been different otherwise. Hopefully those three won't be back.

I always hate to blame officials, especially in a 30 pt game, but that blocking call turned the game around. Bosse has arguably the best press in the state and when your point guard is forced to leave the game, it is a huge blow. The mustached guy that made that call will probably not be back. He did not know the proper hand signals to give after calls, and usually made his mind up as he walked to the scorer's bench, rather than before he blew the whistle.
Jessica was in the lane minding her own business, and the Bosse guard came plowing down the lane completely out of control. It did not matter whether she was set (she was), because she was not attempting to take a charge. She just got run over by a flying out-of-control player. Bosse made the free throws, we lost our best ball handler, and the game was a blowout from that point on.

Wasn't this game AT Princeton?

Yup it was at P'ton that's what is even worse. For some reason the home court advantage doesn't help the team out too much. Makes me wonder who is scheduling the officiating team! Quite honestly from what I've seen over the last 2 or 3 years we seem to be in better shape with the refs when we are traveling.

I have to wonder what’s up with the officials. Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about all of them. As there are some very good ones. Do you think moving from 2 to 3 officials during a Varsity game has an affect on the quality of the team? One would think 3 would be better then 2 but I think the reverse has been the outcome. It seems 2 on the team usually seem to be rather competent but then you throw the third one into the equation. To make matters worse the third one seems to think he is the best thing since sliced bread therefore he blows the whistle constantly. Maybe it is to prove that he deserves to be there.

Take for instance at the Southridge game Tuesday night. In one instance one of the refs called a foul on a player of ours who wasn’t even in the game. It worked out well for us, but he would not change his mind. We all just scratched our head and went on. Later in the game although we were in good position to win the game one of his calls came back to bite us. With 3 fouls McKee was called for her 4th on a shot of a player she wasn’t even standing near. In fact the player on our team who had committed the foul told the ref it was indeed she who committed the offense. Of course it didn’t matter. We still won the game but the officiating by one guy pretty well sucked.

Some officials take the fun out of the game for the girls. However, that’s part of the game just like having home court advantage. It is something the team has to work with.

I agree, and it is no different in wrestling. As a matter of fact, it is probably worse because of fewer numbers of wrestling officials from which to choose.

However, with that being said, I do believe that a BB ref. can impact a game much more than any other sport.

Our AD allows me to choose our refs and then he does the rest. For example: When we wrestle Princeton this year I will have the best possible ref. there, but if we wrestle a much lesser team then I will give the less experienced refs an opportunity. Putting a young wrestling official into a heated rivalry like us and Pton is not a good situation for anybody.

That's why my ? is: Doesn't JT get to have a say in who officiates? I know that there are plenty BB out there.

Twigt, you may be able to shed some light on this. I was told by a person that the officials were scheduled 2 years in advance. I don't know if this is true or not; to me if this is true it seems pretty far in advance. I would think one year would be plenty. How far in advance do you schedule your wrestling refs?

If it's a tourney, or 5-way etc., they'll often have multi year contracts, but other than that---NO WAY. One year at a time...

I don't remember her. I do remember that when I played, Bosse and Princeton didn't really like each other all that well, in fact one year when I was playing the fans were throwing rocks at the Princeton bus as they left, probably because we beat them. Bosse always played street ball. One of the worst games ever i can remember when My daughter played was at Pike Central, the refs and the crowds-vicious. I would love to see the tigers beat Pike and Castle, oh and Booneville, well I'd like to see them win all the games.
