Wonder when medical cost are going to start going up. You know these gas prices are killing the ambulance and life flight people. Listening to the scanner and how people call in all the time for a stomachache and things that really do not qualify for an emergency I would say it is going to dribble its way down to use the tax payer for added welfare cost. I hear in big cities these people call in for help just to get a free ambulance ride from one side of town to the other then when sitting in the emergency waiting room they get up and leave and pay a taxi for the ride home. 1/2 price when you play the system.

Seen Princeton changed it also. They dropped a big penny. $2.88 a gallon.

I have decided that I'm just gonna pitch a tent right here on Alcoa property and live here through the week. I can come home on the weekends and save myself $100 a week.

I was watching old home movies today from back in 97 and parts of it is us screwing around with the camcorder going down W. Broadway . I seen gas was 1.05 a gallon. Missing those times.

I remember the good ol' days before Shrub took office... :p

If the thought of riding/driving a moped or donorcycle didn't scare the hell out of me, I'd invest in one. It just seems everyone I've known with a motorcycle has had a nasty accident (usually at the hands of careless automobile drivers), having a wreck isn't all that appealing.

Walk to town, you're kidding right? I have no problem walking when I get into town, but walking to town to run errands would be insane. The only times I seem to go to town are to buy groceries anymore, can you imagine a month's worth of groceries carried back on foot?

I`ve bounced off of cars 4 times. The last one left me with pins and wires holding my knee together.

Befor Katrina you could actually afford to burn some gas for fun. But once oil companies learned what we were willing to pay all that changed. Kinda like drug dealers supply and demand.

Just saw some TV financial analysts saying that if we have just one more big hit by a hurricane we will be seeing $7.00/gal. gas prices.

Also just saw several gas stations giving away FREE gas!!!
Not sure where they were but the line reminded me of the gas lines in the 70's under the Carter Administration.

$3.99 down Broadway this morning, $3.95 at Swifty. I think at Swifty if you pay cash you get a 3 cent discount per gallon??

dbaldwin

If you get a rewards card @ Flying J you get a 2 cent discount. Wouldn't be worth it if you don't travel that way much but for those of us making the commute daily every little bit helps !!

Not automatically anymore. I have had my card for over two years and now you have to spend at least $10.00 in the store in order to start receiving any discount at all. The old way was better for us of course. A gas station makes their money in the items they sell, not the gas, so I understand why they did it but I still don't like it.

Taceas, JLM was just telling us at our weekly donut bank meeting last weekend that there are 2 different types of motorcycle owners out there, those who have dumped one and those who eventually will. Ironic you say that now. Glad I haven't dumped mine yet, guess that gives me something to look forward to? Fortunately I try to respect it as much as possible so it tends to respect me. Hope we can keep that arrangement. :)

Charlie, good way to put it. I've got 3 uncles, all of which have dumped their Harleys and have had shoulders or hips replaced. Not to mention the "mere flesh wounds" of accidents as well.

We have a Co-Op card and it knocks 2 cents off the price, no mimimum required. I'm not sure if they're doing that program anymore, we've had our card for 3-4 years now, we signed up when gas kept getting more expensive and we find it convenient to fill up 24hrs a day without the hassle of going all the way to town.

But its a card you swipe, enter your pin, select the pump you want (which turns on), fill up, swipe again and it prints a receipt (optional). It sends a monthly bill to your home, which works out for us as our diesel fuel, chicken feed, and bedding is also on there.

Not to mention but I read an article a few months back where Countrymark is all locally derived and processed oil, with the furthest coming from Oklahoma or Missouri. I'd rather support that than another big conglomerate with those record profits..

I use the CO-OP quite a bit, too, since one of our grain elevators hapens to be right behind it... Works out quite well, since it's not out of my way.:)
