My kids took me to a recycle center in the 200 block of South Main. I was very impressed that they are accepting all kinds of things there, including all types of plastics, white paper, cardboard, aluminum cans, tin cans, etc. Does anyone know the name of the business, and is there a complete list of recyclable materials listed somewhere?

It is Helton and Miles (or Miles and Helton....). I don't know about a list, but I do know that if your cans are crushed you will receive about 10 cents more per pound (but you need to have 10 points at a time).

If our town would think outside the box we would have plastic totes to put recycle stuff in for pick up each week. yes, I think I read it in what we call our PTown newspaper that this may happen but yet PTown is decades behind the times

MWS, I'm sure that a lot of people would recycle if we had pickup. I know I would.

are their bins outside so we can drop off whenever or what are their hours?

Nifty, I wrote a long explanation about our experience (twice) but was no longer logged in when I got ready to post. So this will be brief. Yes, it's outside, and it's nice and clean. No garbage, just recycle stuff. We were there on a Saturday evening and it was unattended. MY kids just threw their stuff into the bins. The big bins are marked. You have to sort it accordingly.
Thisw is a very nice facility, and my family just loves it!

I saved their ad from the paper when they first opened. Here's the info:
Helton & Miles Recyclers
Materials Accepted:
- cardboard, food boxes
- newspaper, paper, & junk mail
- magazines & books
- glass
- small necked plastic bottles (milk jugs, pop bottles, laundry detergent, etc.)
- steel cans
- aluminum cans (paid by lb., 10 lb. minumum)
(Please Rinse Out All Items)
Hours:
M-F 8-5
Sat. 8-12
I'm glad to know you can drop stuff off after hours since the bins are outside. I just figured they were inside since that building is so big. I wonder what they have inside.
I've heard talk of them eventually having plastic boxes available and a pick up route, but that might be a while due to costs.

My son said they told him that they will take ANY kind of plastic. Check with them to make sure.

Here's a site where you can find recycling centers for other items not accepted at the sites in town or in the county (computers, printers, tvs, for ex.).
