With the Halloween theme, have you ever had a supernatural experience anytime in your Life. I know talking about it can be a bit odd, but were all friendly here.....
Or do you know of a place local that has had a history of experiences?

Creepy. I've always heard some Satanic people use to have there thing at the old Patoka orphange years ago. (Didnt even know there was a orphange around here), I've heard also about a old Church on Heights Chapel Road that was used by Satanist back years ago, and the local people burned it to the ground. I'm not sure how true that story is either...anyone validate the above?

Btw, I just seen a site that lists haunted places in Indiana and we have one here in Gibson County according to this site. Bulldog Bridge. (Does that name bring back a foggy haze)....anyhow, they claim a man committed suicide out there a few years ago. He was found inside his car with the windows up something like 3 days later in the hot summertime heat. (You could imagine...) but they claim that many suicides have been committed there over the years.

Vincennes is full of "claimed" haunting houses. This winter will make 2 yrs, but I was involved with a paranormal investigations group here in Princeton then, and at first we did it for the fun of it. Once it caught on and word got around town (thanks GCT), it got bigger. We got affliated with a group out of Terre Haute and went to Vincennes on more than 10 different calls. We have some stuff on video that will blow your mind, some great audio of something that no-one can decypher etc...Vincennes is a great town for paranormal research. Mt. Carmel Ill has some freaky stuff going on over there also..

I've been to Bulldog Bridge on many ocassions trying to "get scared". I had no luck. A lot of teenagers go to the bridge and drink, so you'd think if it was really haunted you'd hear a lot of stories about it.
I've been to Blackfoot Church and cemetary and again to no avail. I'm not saying these places are not haunted, but I'm just saying I didn't see or hear anything supernatural. They were all pretty creepy though.
Just talked to Don Hoke and I can't wait for what he has to post on this topic. He mentioned something about Archer Cemetery, but I'll let him post the details.

It should be a great post. I remember 2 yrs ago I was out there doing some "research" and the outside temp was 59*...then we all got a cold chill that ran past us, and the temp on our digital them...dropped to 3* Yes, 3 degrees. Even with the wind blowing it wouldn't have gotten to 3 *..I'm looking forward to that post too.

Bulldog is kinda scary at night, though i wouldn't get out of the car. Supposedly someone hanged themself there many years ago. Other than that, the only strange event would be playing that ouija board and getting no response but dishes flying out of cabinets.

I have been to most of these "scary places" in gibson co., none of them compare to the night Vance and I saw a UFO on 650e and 350s(same place they found they dead girl)

The Patoka Orphage suffered from much trespassing and vandalism. Susan Resler said her Dad finally put a huge load of dirt at the end of the drive to try and prevent the theives coming in. Sadly this same dirt pile impeded fire trucks from battling the blaze that destroyed the building in the 1980s.

I've had a weird experience out there in 1973 when I worked for the old vault service. After a graveside service, we were filling in the grave by hand using shovels. We noticed what appeared to be broken up bone fragments in the dirt (they used a backhoe to dig the grave). Being young & dumb we figured it was best to just put them back in the ground.
Ernie Lasley tells me the oldest proven gravestone in the county is located in Archer. I think the Presbyterians had to start locking the gates because of vandalism. Back before the schools & Hillside UMC, the area was a very peaceful, isolated cemetery. I wonder if Stan Howe could have Andrea key a story.

It has been locked for a very long time. I'm out in that area 4 days a week, twice a day and I cannot remember the last time it was unlocked. Sad that the family of the people deceased have to get a hold of the Church to arrange someone to open it for them...
Wasn't there a large Indian massacre there long before Archer Cem was ever there? I thought I read somewhere about that...Could someone have Ernie come on this topic and give some info...

The death out near Bulldog (or Bullfrog as it has also been called) was a good friend of mine. His father was a mentor of mine twenty plus years ago, and I have always been close to the family, graduating with one of his brothers. This is the first time I have heard anything regarding "sightings" involving this case. Out of respect of the family, please do not post "hearsay".
I lost my little sister last May, it would be most difficult to read accounts of "ghost" sightings of her on this forum.
Thank You

Phil, How was anyone suppose to know you had relations with the deceased? Out of respect after this posting I will not bring it up. It was on the Shadowlands site. I thought it was something worth mentioning due to the topic. There was never a mean spirited side to it.
Let me know if you would like it deleted.

Friday night I tried to get my work done here by 8pm, but I didn't get done. Knowing I had drill the next day & had to be up at 4am, gone by 4:15, and it being past 9pm already, I decided to stay at the biz. I have a room set up in the basement next to the furnace & the laundry for just such occasions.
I crawled into bed, weary and worn. After a few hours, I opened my eyes to the feeling that someone was in the room with me. I sat up & looked around. With no light except for a dim night light in the distance, I listened for footsteps. I'll admit it. I heard none. But I felt the presence of a person none-the-less. I strained my eyes & saw the figure of a rotund person walk slowly to the stairs & go up. I watched the figure go, with neither fear nor a certainty of what I was seeing.
The normal creak the old stairs make under my weight was missing. A person of that size should make quite a racket, I thought. I cocked my head to the side. The lights were out. How could any person see their way around without any light? I waited for the door to open and the light from upstairs to shine down, the tell-tale sign that there was indeed someone going up the stairs. No light shone down. Then where did they go?
I tried to make sense of it. Was I dreaming? Am I dreaming now? It didn't feel like a dream. To be certain it wasn't a dream, I grabbed my cell phone, which would serve as my alarm at 4am. Hitting a button filled my eyes with light. It was 1:45am. I aimed the face of the phone around the room, while still sitting up in bed. Knowing I needed the sleep, I decided to watch the cmeras in the morn & drift off again.
Hubby says it was Gilberts Ghost. It was just weird to me. If I'd've seen a ghost, Id've thought I wouldn't be able togo back to sleep...

I don't know as much as I'd like to know about Archer Cemetery. Bob and Audrey never quite figured out why it was called Archer Cemetery. They said just a few weeks ago they thought the Howes gave most of the land. It's a very nice little cemetery. We check in with Bud when we need to get in aside from holidays to check on stones, etc.
With new schools planned out in that area, Archer will be even less secluded. That's good and bad. More people traveling in that area, more eyes out for mischief. But more opportunities for mischief.
I chose a cemetery for the setting of an engagement picture for my first marriage. I loved the cemetery, all my family is buried at the top of a hill overlooking Rising Sun, Ill. (Also known as Dogtown!) But perhaps getting an engagement photo at a cemetery is part of the reason why we only lasted 10 years.

I went to an outdoor rock concert once. it was raining all day. We laid under plastic in attempt to keep dry. I can't remember who all performed but the last act was Richie Havens. He sang a few songs and then sung " Here Comes The Sun". Just as he started to sing that song the clouds parted and a rainbow appeared over his shoulder. I think I heard birds chirping too.

OMG! The old orphanage was creepy!! My buddy (RE) and I went through there on a dare one time...at night! No flashlight or anything and I about ****** my pants. Man it still gives me goose bumps thinking about it. There were all kinds of stuff moving around in there...don't know what it was and didn't stick around to find out. Plus, you'd think that it would be quiet in there, no way, there were all kinds of strange sounds.

Can anyone tell me what the old building in Summerville used to be? It is a two story brick building, it's very old, and seemed to have been an old school building. All the windows and stuff are broken out. If you turn off 57 onto the southern-most street in Summerville, and then take a right just past the railroad tracks, it's on the right side of the street. We went in there one night many years ago, and it was creepy.

Back about 4 years ago when I led a group of "paranormal investigators" here in Gibson County as user MCR here on GCN we investigated quite a few local spots. I still have a ton of footage if someone would be interested in seeing them sometime. I may put them on Youtube this weekend. We did everything from local homes, business's, abandoned factory's, graveyards, etc. It was a pretty successful side hobby. We did this all before the mainstream interest like in Ghosthunters on SciFi etc.
You would be surprised how many calls, and emails I received with interest in us coming over a doing a investigation. Like I mentioned though if someone wanted to see some footage from local calls I can either upload them to Youtube (but I don't know what the size limitations are there), or I can burn a dvd. I had each client sign a release so me showing them isn't a issue.

We've 10 acres right there in Somerville.
Our property is right up to the next house past that old building. That old building was formerly a school building and has been purchased by an older couple from Eville. What for I don't know because it is full of asbestos and will cost an "arm and a leg" to tear it down and properly get rid of the carcinogen material.

I recently bought a book at Barnes & Noble titled "Weird Indiana". It has a lot of interesting stories, and i noticed when we went to Bloomington recently that we drove right past one of the places (Stepp Cemetary). If i had known i would've stopped!
It's a good read! Not sure who it was by, it's out in the truck. It does mention Purple Head Bridge in Vincennes and a few other local places of interest.
We have two ghosts in our house. I saw the man when i was younger, and my mom and a couple of other people have seen both the man and the woman together. We've researched to try to find out who they are. They have been quite docile for quite sometime now, every once in a while i wish they'd pop in for a visit.

My kids have that book, too. We used to live near the haunted bridge in Avon. I think it's all hype, though.
We just recently got a similar book about our new state. Not much haunted stuff in our area, though, as this whole area of Kansas was Indian reservations until the late 1800s. All the good haunted stuff is up by Topeka and Fort Riley, where I used to be stationed. :)

The church building has been gone since '92, so if anything went on up there, it would have been done by someone NOT associated with Blackfoot. There's nothing wrong with Blackfoot itself.

Just now. I'm waiting for a client to return for a lower body orientation & just about to give up on their return. I'm thinking I am crazy for agreeing to a late night orientaion, but I have high hopes for these ppl, as they have big goals. No one is here. The late nighters have left & the late-late nighters have not come in yet.
Suddenly, I hear a noise. The noise gets louder, a whirring sound, & louder. I know that sound. A treadmill has started on the 2nd floor. I run upstairs & find my StarTrek is going at a very fast 5.9- a running pace. I hit the stop button. The florescent light above me flickers.
I have never seen a treadmill start on its own before. Have you?

Okay - I am beginning to wonder about the house we are currently living in. The dog will sometimes look down the hall and growl in the low, warning growl he has. He also will jump up and run down the same hall like someone is back there. The last couple of days, the doorbell has rang, we go to the back door and no one is there. The dog is going nuts like someone is really at the door. Gives me that kinda creepy feeling. Maybe I watch too much TV.... :D

I can get my hands on the "tools" needed to see if you are having a disturbance of sorts with something paranormal. Animals, and small children are conductors of sorts to these types of energy. Children do not have the filter that adults have. I've seen it personally. If you want more info, let me know.

Neecer: I have often wondered if animals can sense such things too. One day we heard some unexplainable activity/noise going on upstairs in my daughters' room (that was void of anyone at the time), our dog was barking like mad. She was a full-grown doberman and it was difficult to pull her out of the room. She would spin around like she was watching something.
We live here, not in fear, for nothing threatening has ever happened to us, despite reports of the previous owner being pushed down the stairs claiming she felt two hands on her back shove her just before she fell).
Just last week my youngest daughter was sitting at the dining room table and she was visibly upset and showed me how a bag of teddy grahams sat up on it's own, then leaned away from her. I told her it was probably "Josephine" (one of the original owners of the house, who we have lovingly referred as one of the "ghosts" as) wanting to have a snack too. My daughter agreed that it was okay to share, and then resumed doing her homework.

Weird how some homes can carry stuff over, and some do not. I've lived in this house for six years. A month before we moved in the former resident committed suicide in one of the bedrooms. I didn't know this till about a year later. I've never (knock on wood) ever had any type of experience here relating to that. Back in 04 after a lengthy investigation into a haunted cemetery something came home with me that night. Water was turning off/on by itself, and oddly I was in the living room and heard something like change being dropped in the bathroom sink. I went looking for the noise and something threw change into my bathroom sink. Odd. I have no idea why, but that was what happened. After that night, nothing else.
Last summer we were planting a garden out in the backyard and my oldest daughter was playing around in the dirt with a spade digging and came across something rusty. I helped her dig it out and it was a bracelet. Nothing seen these days. It was very old. After cleaning it up as much as I could I took it to a antique dealer and he gave me a age of over 100 yrs old. My daughter enjoyed her find but with it being rusted I didn't want her wearing it. This is no joke. Every night that bracelet was in the house I had horrific nightmares. It was close to night terrors. Nightmares that leave a memory burn. A friend mentioned the bracelet, I took a country cruise and ditched that baby..and since everything has been fine. Paranormal energy can be a very weird, mysterious thing. Not to be played with..but very unpredictable.

You know, the Signature that IH has is no joke. You are correct Pynk. I truly believe in this stuff and when I watch some of those tv shows such as Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State, I wonder if these guys really know what they are messing with by inviting spirits out into the open?

No ghosts (or aliens!) at our abode that's for sure!

Pynk - we are moving on Saturday - so unless our ghost or whatever comes with us... Funny - nothing strange started happening until we started packing to move out. I have to wonder if the spirit liked having a family in this house.
I had strange dreams last night about doors slamming closed on their own and seeing ghosts.

Bubba was demoted to his old little cage when the squirrel came along.
Bubba figured out how to get out of his cage & roamed the business all night 2 nights in a row. Both times he was discovered sleeping in the vault in the basement.
At that time, we cleaned the ferret cage of squirrel smells & put Bubba into his mansion of a cage, which is covered with chicken wire to ensure he does not get out.
The door is very hard to open. And when it is closed, it is closed, there is no in-between.
So when I discovered Bubba missing this morn, I assumed someone let him out. I immediately retrieved him from the vault & I watched the overnight footage... & found a very surprising thing indeed. There is no one to yell at this time...

This is not a trick & I cannot duplicate any way for the cage to open like that.

A couple of years ago I went to Oddfellows cemetery on a geocache search. Some sort of spirit came home with me that day. When I went to bed I became aware of a hostile spirit in the corner of my room. I ordered it out in the name of Jesus. It left immediately and never returned.

Geocaching? That's actually a great hobby. The wife and I recently started doing that this past Spring.

Not to derail the thread, but I have one cache. Look up "union cemetery".

This is not a trick & I cannot duplicate any way for the cage to open like that. After checking the rest of the footage, I see Maygen comes in around 10:30pm to tan & sees Bubba out of the cage & puts him in & closes the door. It pops open again after she leaves. Then William comes in around midnight & closes the door, not knowing Bubba is off on his escapade. It pops open again a few minutes later. He closes it again on his way out. It pops open again after he leaves.
It's been a few days & it hasn't happened again. It's weird. Bubba was happy to have his adventure, I'm sure.

While on a job about ten years ago or so, i was working in one of the old houses in Mt. Carmel on the brick street. My helper and i was upstairs taking up the old carpet and we kept hearing noises, and i thought i saw a shadow at the end of the hall.A couple hours later my helper was in the bedroom taking up carpet and i heard him yell and he ran outside.I ran down stairs and outside to ask him what happened. He said go upstairs and look on the floor and that he wasnt going back in the house. So i went back in and went to the bedroom. Now i must say in my 20 years of installing floors ive never seen anything like this, but on the old pad under that was under the carpet, was a perfect image of a person.I mean you could see its eyes, arms, legs, fingers..ect..You could see all the details perfectly.Well that was enough work for the day i thought so we went home. The next day i went back to finish up taking up carpet, and when i got there i asked the caretaker of the house(who lived next door) if he had ever heard or seen any strange things in the house. He imediately said to me(oh you saw it didnt you).I was freaking out and asked him who?He said a ghost.I told him that i thought i saw shawdows at the end of the hall and that we heard noises and then went on to show him what we found. Before we even got into the bedroom he said to me"(oh the old man that use to live here was found dead in that room")When we went in there i showed him the image on the old pad and he said," thats where he was found dead lying on the floor next to his bed".Now i really freaked out!
I did cut out the pad and kept it to show people and everyone i showed said it was the weirdest thing they`de ever seen.
