Ok, so my water heater is on the fritz. It is exactly 13 months old & it warms the water to a nice warm, not hot. You don't call it a warm water heater, now do you? This effects no-one else in the house, as it is warm enough to shower. But I take baths. Harumph.

I'm officially on strike... I will not bathe again until I have hot water.

Shower only. I do not like sitting in the water I am using to get clean. :)

You could always put in a hot tub in PF.....

Jennifer,

It's entirely possible that not much is wrong with your water heater.

Is it under warranty? Was it installed by a professional? Gas or electric? If it's an issue with capacity, can the showers/baths be staggered between a.m. and pm., to give the heater a chance to "catch up"?

I had my tub removed, because I prefer to shower and hate to clean a tub, but can understand why some people like to sit and soak. Not me; I just want to get in & out a.s.a.p.

One bonus of using warm water to bathe is that it doesn't dry the skin out quite as badly as hot water.

i have my days when I want to just come home get in the tub with HOT water and read my book. No tub at home, stand up shower, I'd definatly go for having one of those big round tubs at the gym with the jets in it :)

If I'm dirty, dirty- like I need a hose, I will shower.
If I'm somewhere where there is no bath, I will shower.
When we had to sandbag in Terre Haute & I had trouble peeling off my uniform from the sweat, I showered.
If I have sand & debris in my hair, I will shower.
Ok, so I've showered a lot lately.

But I never really feel a deep clean after a shower.
I soak and I exfoliate in the tub & I feel like the water gets to every part of me... I soak and I think.
I don't want jets.
I do want hot.
I soak.
I think.
So, this is day 2 of my strike.
I feel dirty.

Is it an electric hot water heater with two heating elements? If so, it probably has one of the elements burned out. Give your hubby a break from his 14 hour days remodeling PF and have him take a look at it.:D

I love my tub. I have an old iron foot tub and its huge! I normally opt for the shower, but love to run hot hot hot water and soak with my ipod or a good book.

Believe it or not, I've debated this for years. How can you feel clean getting out of water that you just washed in? That ring that forms around the tube when the water goes out should offer a clue. Yuck!!! Now if you bathed and then stood up and rinsed off in the shower...that would make some sense, but why not just take a shower in the first place? JMO

I love my tub. I have an old iron foot tub and its huge!..., but love to run hot hot hot water and soak.Love the claw foot ones! Put one in the rental unit & wish I had it for myself!

OK, so you understand how warm water would really suck for a bath, then, huh? Oh, I hope they got it fixed this morn. I'm not getting in unless I see steam!

Dude! If you are that dirty that you leave a ring, by all means---- shower, already!
...Now, I have been known to shower first, then soak soon thereafter for that deep clean I desire.

Hot water heater is supposedly fixed, says hubby that met plumber this morn. One of the temperature thermostadt doo-hickeys was sticking. In the morning I will soak in hot water and end my 3 day strike.

For anyone wanting to come in today to talk to me- don't worry. I showered here before I went home last night & will shower again before abs class tonight. It is day 2 of my "no BATH" strike. Showers don't count. :)
That ring is predominantly dead skin cells. You know the ones that constantly rejuvinate themselves. I don't care if you scrub yourself with a SOS pad and then take a bath...still going to leave a ring!

Yes, that's the "exfoliating" that Jennifer mentioned: dead skin cells. I daresay that some of that bathtub ring also contains dirt and body oils, no matter how often ones bathes or how "clean" they think they are. I like for my exfoliated cells to go down the shower drain.
