This is an older book in the Princeton Library about Carlos Hathcock, known as "White Feather" to the Viet Cong. I read it very early in the winter and can't remember all of the details, but I highly recommend it if you like reading accounts of wartimes. This little man was incredible. I think it is claimed that he killed over 500 enemy, with more confirmed kills than any other Vietnam war sniper.
He was so feared by the NVA that they put a $30,000 bounty on his head. He was so respected by the marines that they all began wearing white feathers in their helmets and hats in order to confuse the enemy - they were willing to become targets themselves rather than lose their star sniper.
The stories in this book make it hard to put down.
